How are the students grouped?

The students will be grouped according to their English proficiency levels and ages. The school offers programmes for students with varying English proficiency levels aged between 8 - 17 years old.

How many students per class?

There will be a maximum of 15 students from different countries around the world in each class to aid the students’ learning application and communication skills.

Activities

Each afternoon and evening, there will be entertaining and educational activities and games organised by qualified staff activity leaders.

Can you give some examples of these activities?

There will be a variety of different activities such as Quiz and Film Nights, Orientation Tours, Karaoke, Mini Olympics, Talent Shows, Scavenger Hunts and other British influenced games and pursuits.

Will the students be given any breaks?

Each day, students will be given a 30-minute break between the morning lessons, plus lunch time and social time before dinner in the evening.

What does ‘social time’ involve?

In Canterbury, students may relax in the spacious common rooms equipped with pool tables, tennis tables, WiFi connections and TVs. They may also use the sports facilities on site including a large sports field, modern sports hall, 4 tennis courts and large astro field.

While in Bath, students will also have the opportunity to use the common areas, as well as access to an indoor swimming pool, a large sports hall and an astroturf. They can also partake in arts and crafts while drama and dance activities are available too. Both private school campuses are secured with 24/7 patrol and security to maintain the students’ well being and safety at all times.

Excursions

What does this involve?

There will be half-day and full-day excursions to various sites, cities and local attractions in the area.

For students based in Canterbury, this may include half-day excursions to Dover Castle and Leeds Castle or a trip to a nearby Zoo or shopping outlet. Full-day excursions will include a day trip to London plus the opportunity to visit cities such as Brighton and Cambridge.

For students based in Bath, this may include half-day excursions to Stonehenge and Bristol. Full-day excursions will also include a day trip to London plus the chance to visit cities such as Oxford.

How will this be organised?

As part of the programme, all half-day and full-day excursions are included in the price and the students will be accompanied by qualified and experienced activity leaders who will act as tour guides. Teachers accompanying the students are welcome to join the trips and experience the occasion, but they do not need to organise or arrange anything extra for their pupils.

Accommodation & Food

Where will the students be staying?

The students will be staying at a secure private school campus with separate housing for boys and girls with all classes, dining, accommodation and facilities on one site. In Canterbury, the excellent boarding and spacious accommodation will include 1-4 beds per room complete with ensuite facilities.

While in Bath, the newly renovated accommodation averages 1-3 beds per room, again with ensuite facilities.

Is food provided for the entirety of the stay?

Yes, the students and accompanying teachers will be given full-board catering in a large dining room. Each day, this will include buffet style breakfasts, lunches and dinners featuring international cuisine and British culinary favorites.

What will they eat when away for an excursion?

For half-day trips, students will eat in the dining room before leaving for the trip in the afternoon. For full-day trips, the students will be given a nourishable and healthy packed lunch to take with them. Breakfast and dinner will be given in the dining room before and after they return from the excursion.

Price

This all sounds great, but how much does it cost?

The cost for a one week stay is just $12,888 HKD per student. For a two week trip, the price is $25,588 HKD per student. A three week trip will cost $37,888 HKD per student.

Do accompanying teachers / parents / guardians get any discounts?

Even better than that, for every 10 students who confirm for the trip, 1 adult helper gets a FREE stay on the campus (including all accommodation and meals provided). For 20 students, 2 adult helpers can enjoy a free trip and for 30 students, 3 adult helpers get the same benefits etc.

How much are the transport costs from the airport?

This is the only extra cost that the groups will be expected to pay if they wish for the school to organise the transport for them. This can be discussed at a later date depending on which airport the students are planning to arrive at and to which location they’ll be going (Canterbury or Bath).

Will Learn Abroad organise the flights?

No, this is up to the school, families or local travel agencies to arrange. However, we can recommend flight times and airlines that would be most suitable.
